Employment through trade fairs

Modern day trade fairs are organized at massive scale and require tremendous infrastructure and manpower. The trade venues of this day and age are very well constructed professional institutes designed for the trade fair industry. In every country, there are a few state of the art fairgrounds which can be easily chosen by trade fair associations and organizers. Hence, the infrastructure issue is rarely a problem in the organization of a trade fair. But arrangement of manpower, which is the other significant requirement for trade fairs, can be quite tricky at times. Each country has its own financial background and accumulating manpower is hugely dependent on the hiring cost of specialist labor. Sometimes, it becomes very expensive for trade fair organizers and exhibitors to recruit people well versed in the domain. In this situation, employing local youth on short term basis is the alternative chosen by the organizers. The local youth may cost less but training them to a level where they can carry out their responsibilities could be quite tough. To make the job of training the unskilled youth easier, one should consider a few points before recruiting them-

Basic Etiquettes-A trade fair usually involves work which deals with presenting the products in the best way possible. The employees working at stalls and other important positions should be at their best behavior. Especially at international fairs, the whole pride of nation and the image of brand is at stake. Basic etiquettes should be a looked upon as a major requisite in a prospective employee.

Command of Language-In a trade fair, a large variety of people from different regions of the country and world are present. An employee should be well versed in the local language as well as English, which is the chosen mode of communication throughout the world.

Willingness to learn and enthusiasm-It is expected from an employee that he/she should be ready to learn. High levels of energy and eagerness can mask the lack of experience. Sometimes, an eager youth can make a better employee than a non-eager specialist.

Experience-Though experience is not mandatory but at certain advanced positions in the hierarchy some experience in the trade fair industry can come in handy. For such esteemed positions, only experienced people should be considered.

In search of cutting costs for the trade events, employment of youth is a frequently used practice. Besides providing low cost, the youth can also fill these events with energy. But still, some thought process should go into the recruitment process and above mentioned points should be taken into consideration.
