How to curb malpractices at trade shows

A common gathering place provides people with numerous interacting and networking opportunities helping them forge new bonds. But in the hindsight, there are certain evils which are bound to show up if the gatherings are not managed properly. A trade show is normally an official assemble of trade buyers conducted with utmost decorum and discipline. But at certain more casual fairs which are business to consumer based affairs, certain malpractices are quite prevalent. These evil practices not only impact the people who are directly affected but they also tarnish the image of the organizers. Some common malpractices and possible countermeasures are listed below-

Eve teasing-One of the most prevalent malpractice encountered during a trade fair is the harassment and molestation of females. Due to the massive crowds at B2C trade fairs, the possibility of an attempt to harass and abuse women increases manifold. Hence, the fair organizers need to be proactive. They need to use measures like installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of trained staff that can keep an eye on such mishaps. By handing over the miscreants to the police, the authorities can set a precedent that such activities won’t be tolerated. For the success of a trade show the safety of all the attendees is very important and it should never be taken lightly.

Littering-Most people stick to the principle of cleanliness when they are at home, but once they go outside their views on cleanliness change completely. These people can transform the look of a trade show drastically, turning it into a litter filled unhygienic destination. To curb this practice, certain fines need to be imposed on littering. Once people are aware of the fines, the littering is bound to reduce.

Shoplifting-Although it happens in minority but still certain cases of shoplifting have been recorded in recent history. The solution to this problem is similar to the one used in eve teasing. By installing CCTV cameras and surveillance, the thefts can definitely be eradicated.

Bad and abusive behavior-Some people are easily infuriated and can turn very rude. These people can pick a fight with a stall host or security personnel without any rhyme or reason. Special instructions should be given to the guards at the trade fairs and unrelentingly abusive visitors should be escorted out of the trade show venue.

The trade shows are not only important for business of national industries but they are also significant as far as creating a good national image is concerned. The above measures may seem a bit tough to some people but there is nothing more important than the prestige of the country. These malpractices need to be eradicated through a well thought out procedure to make trade fairs a better place to visit.
