Nowadays tradeshow companies, exhibitors and organizers use social media to advertise their business and support event marketing. But the bigger challenge is to understand what is Social Media?

It is the online technology through which people share their content, personal opinions, thoughts. Social media website content can be in many shapes and forms:

  • Text: by writing blog posts, or discussions
  • Images: a good picture speaks a lot by itself.
  • Audio: social media helps in creating pod casts for users to download.
  • Video: these can be shared all over the world to see.

The very popular social media websites which are being used by masses are: Facebook, twitter, linked in, flickr and you tube. The list is never ending, there are lot many other social media sites available on the internet. Most of these social media sites are free of cost so it’s just that one has to dedicate its time to know their importance and use. Trade show exhibitors and organizers basically use these sites for event promotion.

Blogging is an easy and interesting way to talk about company’s latest products/services. It provides exposure & visibility to the existing clients as well as to help in making new customers. Commenting on blogs and asking questions is another way to communicate with each other. If we will say that social media sites help in building new trade relations and reinforcing the existing ones, then there would be no exaggeration. But there are lots of unexplored areas which are required to be unveiled to reap the benefits of social media.
