The Perth Convention and exhibition center is Western Australia's only
purpose built convention, exhibition and meeting centre. It can cater for
functions of up to 5000 delegates. The Centre was constructed to attract
increased convention bookings for Perth and subsequently more tourists for
the State. The center is also known by the name 'The Hay Shed', because of
its flat and extended design, and many question its bland and unimaginative
architecture. The center is equipped with facilities like entry Plaza, six
Exhibition Pavilions with kiosks, Exhibition Registration Desk and
Exhibition Services Office, Exhibition Pavilion Meeting Rooms, Business
Centre, Five Executive Boardrooms and Media suite, ballrooms and a Johnie
walker bar.
Perth Concert Hall:
The Perth Concert Hall is a concert hall in the centre of Perth, Western
Australia. Situated between St Georges Terrace and Terrace Road, it is
located near Government House, the Supreme Court Gardens and the Swan Bells,
with a view to the Swan River. The building was opened in January 1973. The
venue hosts various musical performance, and for other events such as school
and university graduation ceremonies, business conventions and civic
functions. The venue is also used to host national conventions and
exhibitions, award ceremonies and gala dinners. Recent exhibitions include
the Steinway piano exhibition in March 2008. In addition, the venue is used
for private or corporate functions in areas other than the auditorium, for
example in the foyers, bar, and café.
His Majesty's Theatre( The Maj):
His Majesty's Theatre (nicknamed "The Maj") is a theatre in
Perth, Western Australia. It is located on the corner of Hay Street and King
Street in Perth's central business district. A heritage icon, the theatre
has hosted large scale musicals, ballet, opera and Shakespearean plays. His
Majesty's Theatre opened on Christmas eve 1904. The building, designed by
architect William Wolfe and constructed by Gustav Liebe, is an example of
Edwardian architecture. The theatre and adjoining hotel were built for
42,000 pounds in two years in the early 20th century. Famous performers at
His Majesty's Theatre include Dame Nellie Melba, Vivien Leigh, Sir Robert
Helpman, Sir John Gielgud, Rex Harrison and Katharine Hepburn.
Burswood Entertainment Complex:
The Burswood Entertainment Complex is located on the Swan River in the city
of Perth, Western Australia, and is owned by Crown Limited. The complex
includes a 24-hour casino, seven restaurants, eight bars, a nightclub, two
international hotels (a luxury 5-star InterContinental and a 4-star Holiday
Inn), a Convention Centre, Theatre and the Burswood Dome. Burswood Train
Station, near the Burswood Dome, provides a public transport link to the
Perth CBD. The Burswood Dome is a large enclosed venue for entertainment,
sporting, or special events. The dome is 8,800 square metres in size, with
seating for 13,600 people (or 8,000 during tennis matches). The whole arena
is pressurised so that the fibreglass roof is suspended 35m above the
ground. It has played host to a range of international and Australian
performers and shows including Michael Jackson, Iron Maiden, U2, Coldplay,
Mariah Carey, Elton John, The Boy From Oz, Guns N' Roses, The Wiggles,
Justin Timberlake, Billy Joel, AC/DC, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani and
more.
