Transportation & Reach

Excellently
connected by air and surface transport, getting to Sydney from other
cities and towns in Australia or from anywhere in the world is quite
easy and convenient. Sydneys comprehensive and functional mass
transportation system rang from ferries, buses, trains to taxies.
Thanks to the recent Olympics2000 held in the city, which further
enhanced the city, commuting facilities with excellent bus, ferry and
rail networks.
Sydney Airports:
Kingsford Smith (Sydney) Airport (SYD). The Airport is situated at 10
km south of the city. One of the busiest airports in the world,
Kingsford handles both domestic and international flights.
Sydney Railway Transportation:
The inter-state train service operates under the Countrylink. Central
Station is the main junction for national trips.
- Daily train services link Sydney to Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane
and Adelaide.
- Special trains like the Ghan and Indian-Pacific connect New South
Wales to Perth, Alice Springs and Adelaide.
- An extensive rail network within the state provides easy access
to places within the territory of New South Wales.
Local Transportation of Sydney:
Public Transport services for the whole of the island of Montreal are
run by the Societe de Transport de Montreal (STM), while commuter rail
and off-island bus services are coordinated by the Agence Metropolitaine
de Transport. The network is served by:
- Bus. Running to the suburbs of the city, buses are
without a doubt the best and cheapest way to get around Sydney. Only
buses reach some places in the city like Northern Beaches.
- Train. Trains are the quickest way of getting around
Sydney. Light Rail is a brand new 24-hour service while monorail
circles Darling Harbor and the southwestern parts of the city. The
City Circle is the best link to get around through train. Most of
the trains in Sydney are double-deckers with plenty of space.
- Ferry. The most enjoyable, entertaining and economical
way to get around. Most of the ferries depart from Circular Quay. No
trip to Sydney is complete without a ferry ride to Manly Beach,
Taronga Park Zoo and Watsons Bay.
Hotels & Accommodation
The Emerald City is the perfect place to mix business with pleasure.
This world-class city buzzes with range of accommodations at your
disposal. Although the city most definitely not the cheapest place to
spend the night, but there are a few backpacker's hostels that are
located quite centrally.
The 2000 Sydney Olympics led the establishment of more hotels to cater
the visitors, but still it's unlikely to find the city's hotels
completely booked therefore, it's probably wise to reserve rooms in
advance.
