It is a dynamic and one of the oldest cities in Europe. Distinguished by its large population, the city is also the 15th largest in European Union. Being the Capital of the country, Sofia is not only the administrative center but is also the cultural, economic and industrial hub Bulgaria. This one of the hippest cities of the area has changed from a boring, sad-looking place to a modern and lively capital. Despite being the administrative city, it is an amazing destination for a non-stop partying experience. Only in central Sofia there are over 300 bars, restaurants, discos and cafes, while the flea markets, busy bazaars, rattling trams, gypsy flower-sellers and buskers further add to the atmosphere. Further, its frequent trade shows and exhibitions make it a favorite destination for business explorers as well. Nevertheless, this modern and cosmopolitan nature has not changed Sofias laid back atmosphere and traditional beauty. Founded over 7,000 years ago around numerous hot and cold mineral springs, the city has flourished and declined around a variety of civilizations. Therefore, the architectural style and culture of Sofia is an eclectic mix. The capital is compact and diverse with a unique combination of European and Communist-style architecture, many beautiful orthodox churches as well as wealth of museums and galleries. Furthermore, it claims to be one of few European capitals with beautiful nature, whose proximity of Mount Vistosha offers a myriad of recreational opportunities.
