Overview
Santiago is the capital city of Chile and together with Greater
Santiago forms the largest city of the country. This oldest city of
Chile is home to nearly a third of Chile's entire population. Situated
in the country's Central Valley, the location of the capital is quite
spectacular with Snowcapped Mountains of Andes providing the backdrop.
Santiago is one of the most sophisticated cities of South America with
two decades of uninterrupted economic growth. This thriving metropolis
with extensive suburban development also headquarters many important
companies and is regionally an important financial center. The city
probably attracts the highest number of business travelers in the
country much pertaining to its position as an important B2B shows hub.
Although not an exciting holiday destination compare to other major
South American cities, Santiago sure is a city with distinctive
personality, great sites, colorful markets, lively street life and
awesome museums.
Together with impressive mixture of old and new architecture and full
bloom gardens, the city is also studded with dozens of shopping malls,
most spectacular infrastructure and gigantic skyscrapers. Therefore,
despite being noisy and crowded like any other modern city, Santiagos
tombs and preserved neighborhoods also give it a sense of history at the
same time.
The capital is mostly used as a base for outdoor adventures, excursions
to wineries, national parks and ski-resorts, while its street life is
vibrant with numerous chic sidewalk cafes, impressive hotels and
excellent restaurants.
