Overview
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province of China. It is a sub-provincial
city. Chengdu is also one of the most important economic centers and
transportation and communication hubs in Southwestern China. Chengdu was
chosen as one of the top ten cities to invest in, out of a total of 280
urban centers in the 2007 Public Appraisal for Best Chinese Cities for
Investment.
Chengdu has many places of interest and is famous for its traditional arts
and crafts, ethnic folklore, and beautiful landscapes. The city has easy
access to the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River; to Tibet, Jiuzhaigou, and
Huanglong Temple, to the Terra-cotta Warriors of Xi'an, and to Mt. Emei and
the Giant Buddha of Leshan. The city of Chengdu has one of the lowest
sunshine totals in China and most days are cloudy even if without rain
