Business Overview
The main sectors that are thriving in Dalian are aquaculture and
agriculture. The city exports sea food, scallops, apples, cherries, sea
urchins and others to Japan, Korea and other countries. The city has also
developed in the field of heavy industries. Dalian has several big
industries namely Dalian Heavy Industry Co., Dalian Chemical Group, and
Wafangdian Bearing Co.; and distribution industries like Dashang Group.
Dalian is the largest petroleum port in China, and also the 3rd largest port
overall. Accordingly, Dalian is a major center for oil refineries, diesel
engineering, and chemical production.
Dalian is bestowed by the title of an 'Open City' by the Chinese government
as Dalian attracts huge amount of foreign investment each year. Dalian
developmental zone was created by the Chinese government to attract various
foreign companies to establish there industries in Dalian. IT industry has
also rapidly developed in the city of Dalian with the establishment of two
hightech areas like Dalian Hi-Tech Zone and Dalian Software Park in the
western suburbs near Dalian University of Technology.
There, there are not only Chinese IT companies, such as DHC, Hisoft and
Neusoft Group, but also American, European and Japanese IT companies, such
as Accenture, Dell, Genpact (a General Electric company), HP, IBM, SAP AG,
Alpine, CSK Holding, Panasonic, NEC, Sony and Fidelity. Apart from this
Dalian has also become a major hub for financial industries. Dalian houses
the branches of major Chinese banks like Bank of China, Industrial &
Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications,
and Agricultural Bank of China, and other foreign banks like Citibank, HSBC,
Bank of East Asia, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and Mizuho Corporate Bank.

Dalian Xinghai Convention and Exhibition Center:
Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibition Center is a modern exhibition
center in the city of Dalian in China. The center is bestowed with imposing
style, perfect design and excellent facilities. The center houses facilities
for exhibitions, trade shows, conferences and recreation. Situated in
northern part of the Xinghai Business Area, Dalian Xinghai Convention &
Exhibition Center is surrounded by a quiet and tastefully laid out
environment and an exquisite scenery, with the Lianhua Mount to its east and
the Yellow Sea to its south. The center is situated at a distance of about 5
km from the Dalian Railway Station, 6.5 km from the port of Dalian and at 5
km from the Dalian International Airport. The Dalian Xinghai Convention and
exhibition center covers a total area of 86,000 square meters and its
building area is 94,000 square meters. It has four floors above ground and
one under ground. The center's good facilities and the accessibility makes
it a first choice for exhibition organizers.

Dalian Software Park:
Dalian Software Park is an industrial zone which was created in 1998 in the
western suburbs of Dalian City, Liaoning Province, China. The park has
offices of many of the world's large and medium-sized IT-related companies .
While American and European companies typically have gone to Bangalore and
other cities in India because of the English language capability, the
Japanese companies have gone to Dalian and other cities in China due to the
Japanese language capability. Dalian is one of China's 11 "National
Software Industry Bases" and one of five "National Software Export
Bases." Currently, more than 300 companies, including 32 Global 500
corporations, have offices in the park.
Dalian High-Tech Zone:
Dalian High-Tech Zone was established in the late 1980s in the western
suburbs, where Dalian University of Technology and Dongbei University of
Finance and Economics are located, along Lüshun South Road. It is a
mixed industry zone where pharmaceutical manufacturing and other plants are
in the back side. Dalian's pioneering IT companies, such as DHC and Hisoft
are headquartered here.
