Symposium on Chemistry and Science Education

CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

The 2012 symposium is titled 'Issues of Heterogeneity and Cultural Diversity in Science Education and Science Education Research'. Heterogeneity and cultural diversity are becoming more and more important challenges for educational systems all over the world. Higher rates of migration and multi-cultural societies meet broader spectra of required competencies of young people. I.e. the question of language is an often reported problem on the way of more and more students towards learning in the different subjects. But, also the diagnosis and promotions of students with special needs or specific talents are of growing interest within the education community. Experts will discuss what do examples of good practice from different countries suggest for change in the practice of science teaching related to the issues of heterogeneity and cultural diversity.
