CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

The International Conference on Interdisciplinary Social Sciences examines the nature of disciplinary practices, and the interdisciplinary practices that arise in the context of 'real world' applications. It also interrogates what constitutes 'science' in a social context, and the connections between the social and other sciences. The conference will address interdisciplinary practices across the social sciences, and between the social sciences and the natural sciences, applied sciences and the professions. Plenary speakers will include some of the world's leading thinkers in the social sciences, as well as numerous paper, colloquium and workshop presentations. The Conference is divided into loosely grouped streams approximating perspectives, knowledge-bases, professional practices or disciplines. Each stream also has its own talking circle, a forum for focused discussion of issues.
