CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION
In the year 2003 the Max Planck Society and the European Cultural Heritage Online project brought some experts from around the world with the aim of developing and enhancing a new web-based research environment by using the Open Access paradigm as ways and means for having scientific knowledge and cultural heritage which could be accessible worldwide. Thus a declaration was issued named- The Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. This declaration made Internet as a strong and valuable medium for distributing global knowledge. This conference will be for the first time held in Africa and will serve as an international platform for the African Organizations to fully participate in the conference and to ensure a lively, inclusive and productive conference.
