Thanks to city's first-class transport system which makes getting around
Cologne very easy and convenient. Besides excellent, interchangeable bus,
tram, U-Bahn and S-Bahn services, Cologne is also easily reached by road and
air.
The local transport system of the city is administered by Kolner
Verkehrs-Betriebe (KVB) which is one of the largest public transport
companies in Germany.
Cologne Airports:
Koln or Cologne -Bonn Airport (CGN): The major international and domestic
airport of the city, located 16km southeast of Cologne & 27km north of
Bonn offering connections to around 30 European cities.
The two-terminal complex of the Airport has excellent passenger facilities.
Cologne Railway Transportation:
A major train hub, Cologne has extensive regional and main line train
services.
- Super fast ICE trains make hourly trips to Frankfurt, Berlin &
Munich.
- Other main and regional lines make trips to Bonn, Dusseldorf and
Aachen, several times in an hour.
- IC trains serve Hamburg. The central train station is right below
the cathedral, making an impressing view when you enter the city by
train.
Local Transportation of Cologne:
An integrated public transport system of the city runs under Cologne
Transport Authority named KVB. It is a comprehensive combination of rapid
transit rail, regional rail and buses.
The city is also a prime autobahn hub. Its extensive S-Bahn and U-Bahn
network covers whole of the immense Kolner Ring leading in all directions.
