Overview
The city of Hamburg is a port city located in the northern Germany. It is one of the most important cities of Germany as far as trade and economy are concerned. The city is world famous for its harbors, ships and churches. The city is situated on the banks of river Elbe. The city has been regarded as a major trade gateway not only for Germany but for Europe as well. Hamburg is the hub of Aerospace industry in Germany.

The city has given several warships to German Naval fleet. Due to its trade background, the city of Hamburg houses a large population of merchants and traders. The city also has a widely developed media industry. Hamburg offers more than 40 theatres, 60 museums and 100 music venues and clubs. In 2005 more than 18 million people visited performances like concerts, exhibitions, trade shows and other events. The most significant economic unit for Hamburg is the Port of Hamburg, which ranks 2nd only to Rotterdam in Europe and 9th worldwide in terms of transshipments.
