Overview
Located on the banks of River Danube, Budapest is the capital and largest
city of Hungary. It is the commercial, administrative cultural, industrial
and transportation core of the country. Budapest became a single city by
amalgamating two cities named Buda and Pest occupying both banks of the
river.
While Buda is the older sibling with cobbled streets, colorful hills and
historical buildings, Pest on the other hand houses commercial buildings,
banks, shops, theatres and the parliament. The city as a whole is a
successful business destination with lot of trade opportunities especially
due to its vigorous trade fair and expo culture.
The capital offers breathtaking old world charm and thriving cultural life
together with laden vine valleys, beach resorts and rugged plains. Its
collection of palaces, churches and monuments has been declared a World
Heritage Site by UNESCO, while its has some very good museums as well.
Further the renowned operatic & music events, relaxing &
rejuvenating spa baths and festivals along with nine connecting bridges and
public buildings from the fin-de-siecle era has made Budapest the Paris
of the east.
