Overview
Formerly called as Madras and once been the small fishing
village, this capital city of the Indian State Tamil Nadu, has grown into a
bustling metropolis. The city has emerged as a large commercial and
industrial center and is also known for its diverse cultural heritage and
overwhelming temple architecture.
Having a major percentage of the automobile industries of the country and a
major portion of the nation's vehicles being produced here, Chennai is also
referred to as the Detroit of South Asia. Not only it possess
the second largest Indian Entertainment Industry kollywood,
Chennai is also a famous textile, apparel and IT hub.
Besides being a major center for outsourced jobs, this vigorous destination
is also known for its sport venues and hosts India's only ATP tennis event,
the Chennai Open. Chennai also boosts for being rated as the most attractive
Indian City for offshore services. The city is another politically active
center after Delhi where most of the political personalities are former film
actors who are worshiped as God in Chennai.
Fairly spacious, unlike other Indian Metropolis, the city is famous for the
long sidewalk called the Marina, which is lined by impressive buildings
bringing back memories of the old British Era.
