History & Evolution
In around 100 BC people from India started to settle in the Island of Bali. This has been evident by the inscriptions that has been found in the Islands. The Culture of Bali has been strongly influenced by Australasian culture. Bali has a multicultural society but most of the people follow Hinduism as their religion. The history of Bali by 11th century was deeply influenced by Hindu and Javanese culture. The medieval history of Bali highlights the several phases of Bali and Java conquering each other till Bali was occupied by the Dutch.

Bali was bestowed with the aristocrats, priests and the artists in the 16th centuary making it a golden period in the history of Bali. The coming of the Dutch in 1597 was a landmark and it initiated the process of colonization of Bali. In the 19th century the Dutch due to geo political and economic reasons made Bali a colony. In the Second World War Bali was occupied by Japan and after the war Bali became a province of Indonesia. Bali joined the new republic of Indonesia in 1948. The island of Bali faced the major terrorist attacks in the years 2002 and 2005, but still it has able to maintain its beautiful landscapes, rich culture and friendly behavior.

Air Jeruk Beach:
Air Jeruk Beach in Bali is one of most happening beaches of World. The beach is bestowed with a scenic beauty and a peaceful ambiance. The attractive coastline and the people bustling along the seashore imparts it a natural touch. The beach also has Pura Air Jeruk temple which makes it an interesting spot and a major site among all the tourist attractions in Bali. Due to the presence of the sacred temple, Air Jeruk Beach in Bali has become a favorite spot for the pilgrims and as such large number of visitors takes a trip to this place every year. During the ceremony of the melasti in Balinese, the beach is teeming with thousands of far off travelers and locals who wish to purify their mind, soul and body with the water at the beach. Air Jeruk Beach in Bali is also considered a sacred beach for many who pray for their health, fertility and well-being.

Bali Zoo:
The Bali Zoo in Indonesia covering an area of 3.5 hectares features tall trees, thick vegetation and grasses. This zoo preserves the endangered and rare species of wildlife in their natural habitat. The Bali Zoo protects over 200 indigenous animals from the Asia Pacific including kangaroos, primates and Sumatra tigers within its premises. The birds found in the zoo are Cockatoos, Cassowary, Bali Starling, Peacocks and other Asian bred species. The reptiles found here are the python, green snakes, Iguanas and the komodo dragons that are the largest living lizards found in Indonesia. The Bali Zoo also includes has a restaurant where one can relax and enjoy Balinese cuisines and other seafood and vegetarian preparations at the restaurant of the zoo. The Bali Zoo is surely a must visit for all the visitors of Bali.

Lake Batur:
Lake Batur is one of the most beautiful sites to visit in the islands of Bali. The Lake has a captivating beauty and thus attracts millions of visitors round the year. Lake Batur is the largest among four major lakes of the island. The lake is situated in the feet of Mount Batur and Mount Abang. Bangli's mountainous region centers around the spectacular volcanic crater (or caldera) of Batur. Mount Batur itself is actually just a small volcano, but its setting is in the heart of a huge crater. The Batur Lake is just adjacent to this volcano and is surrounded by the high walls of the crater rim. Lake Batur is nearly 7 kilometers in length and 2.5 kilometers in width. The lake should be visited mainly in the dry season as their is thick fog in the rainy season.
