Overview
The biggest and the wealthiest city of North Italy, Milan is located in the
plains of Lombardy. The citys concentric design is split into four
squares namely, Piazza Duomo, Piazza Cairoli, Piazza Cordusio and Piazza San
Babila. It is the second largest city of Italy by population and the third
largest Metro Area of European Union.
The powerhouse of the country, Milan over the years has become one of the
most highly developed urban centers of Europe. Not just one of the richest
cities in European Union, Milan is also considered as one of the worlds
major commercial and financial centers. Famous for high concentration of
fashion firms and shops, it is recognized as one of the most stylish cities
on the planet housing the largest number of some of the most renowned brands
including Gucci, Ferragamo, Valentino, Armani, Ferre and Fendi.
This wealthy and cosmopolitan city has always remained an eventful
destination. It has hosted among other events the World Exposition in 1906,
FIFA World Cup in 1934 & 1990, UEFA European Football Championship in
1980 & has submitted a bid to BIE to host the Universal Expo 2015.
Therefore, its reputation as one of the eminent host of all kinds of event
has earned Milan large number of business travellers every year.
Nevertheless, Milan is also associated with the names of some towering
geniuses like Leonardo Da Vinci (The Last Supper), Bellini (Madonna and
Child and Pieta) and Michelangelo (his final sculpture). The sophistication
of the city further reaches new levels with a fair bit of history, art,
architecture and Renaissances outpouring combination, making it a
