History & Evolution
Kobe came into existence on April 1, 1889. However the city was designated as a city of Japan on September 1, 1956. In the year 1945 the city was heavily bombed through air raids. The city got devastated after the world war-II. The major landmark in the history was in the year 1995, when an earthquake measuring at 7.3 on the Richter magnitude scale occurred on 7th January.

Thousands of people were killed and there was a huge loss of property. Kobe was Japan's busiest port, before the earthquake. The earthquake caused heavy destruction but still the port stands out as one of the busiest port of Asia. It is amazing the way the port has recovered from the disaster. The port city today stands out as a major port and a unique tourist destination. The city may be small in size but is of huge importance to Japan.

Arima Hot Springs:
Arima is one of the oldest natural hot spring of Japan. The spring is a world famous tourist attraction and a famous spa of Japan. The spring is known for its healing powers and has almost all the nine elements that are required to cure any disease. The Arima hot springs are regularly visited by people who are suffering from cardiac disorders, joint pains or skin disease. The Arima hot springs also has several important sites of historical and cultural importance situated in its vicinity. The Zuihouji Temple and Tsutsmigadaki Park attract visitors form round the globe. The place has three springs namely Kinsen, Ginsen and Tansan-sen. Visitors from all around the world take bath in the hot springs. The place also hosts several festivals and religious events throughout the year.

Himeji Castle:
The Himeji Castle was built in the year 1581 and it is a world famous site of historic importance. The world war-II destroyed all the major castles of Japan. But this Castle still retains its old charm and architecture. The Castle is in the shape of a bird and is white in color. For this very reason the castle is also known by the names like - ‘Shirasagijo' or ‘Hakurojo' meaning the White Egret Castle. The castle is a magnificent structure which can be reached through the six gates. The castles has many legends attached to it. The castle is so strong that the need for renovation has never been felt. The Castle is includes in the list of World heritage sites and is visited by tourists from all over the world.

Akashi Kaikyo Bridge:
Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is a world famous suspension bridge over the Akashi Strait. The bridge is also known as the Pearl Bridge. The Bridge is a part of Honshu- Shikoku Highway and links the city with Awaji Island. The bridge was opened for public in the year 1998. The site also attracts tourists from all over the globe. The main reasons for this being the presence of two parks in the vicinity of the bridge. The park also houses museums which are visited by a large number of visitors each year. There is also an exhibition center at the bottom of the bridge's supporting tower. The exhibition center has every detail about the Bridge's formation and history. The place also has an observatory hall.
