Overview
The capital and largest city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is one of the three
Malaysian Federal Territories. The city is an enclave within the state of
Selangor on the central West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia at the concurrence
of Klang & Gombek Rivers. Being the legislative capital of the country,
KL also operates the Malaysian Parliament.
KL has grown from a small sleepy village to a bustling metropolis in just
50 years as can be witnessed in reflections of glittering skyscrapers
elegantly rising between the well-preserved colonial buildings of
yesteryears. The capital also leads Malaysia's fast paced development in
trade, commerce, banking & finance, manufacturing, transportation,
information technology and tourism. Moreover, it is also of one the major
stop for trade fair organizers and exhibitors.
With the world's cheapest five-star hotels, great shopping and even better
food, Kuala Lumpur presents interesting propositions for leisure traveller
as well. As the capital it is the most modern and developed city in the
country, with contemporary high-rises and world-class skyscrapers, glitzy
shopping malls, vibrant discotheques & nightclubs alongside mosques,
temples and churches.
KL is home to a very mixed crowd of Malays, Chinese, Indians and Arabs, all
contributing towards making this little gem the most colorful and
fascinating cities in South East Asia.
