Many Issues Must Be Addressed When Designing
Many issues must be addressed when designing a good leadwire to patient cable interface. The molded end must usually comply with an industry standard like AAMI or IEC. More important, the interconnection between the leadwire and the cable yoke must provide a fit that will withstand tugging and pulling by the technician or patient. It is important that the integrity of the signal between the patient and the monitoring equipment be maintained throughout patient assessment. Along with insertion force, extraction force must be considered and cannot be too high.
