The family of Industrial products is indeed very large and vary in their characteristics, sizes and shapes, materials of construction and end use applications. Unlike consumer products the industrial products demand a high degree of protective packaging to ensure their safety as otherwise lose their efficacy of performance. Most of them depending on the product nature and the components are sensitive to varying climatic conditions and handling. Fragility and hence breakage, mechanical damage such as chipping and cracking and corrosion signify the type of damages and influencing criteria in the packaging selection. Some of them have in essence even moved into the retail sector demanding thereby a new dimension of packaging. Physical damages and corrosion account for colossal losses of products, globally. Cushioning and corrosion preventives are two specific technology needs in designing a package of industrial products. An indepth knowledge of various cushioning materials and their properties, short term & long term corrosion preventives, sturdier packages form the core. Blocking, Bracing, Suspension system, In situ packaging are a few that help in appropriate packaging. In essence these products family have no single answer. Package design need to be arrived at case by case, each thereby is a challenge by itself singularly.

The conference aims to deliberate the classification of Industrial products, their packaging needs, Materials and systems available, selection criteria and selection process.
