Apart from being the administrative center, Amsterdam is also the financial and business capital of Netherlands and one of the most important cities in Europe to do business as well. The location of this Dutch capital at the heart of Europe gives it easy an access to number of major European markets.

Being a commercial cradle of the country, Amsterdam is headquarters many large Dutch corporations and banks like ABN Amro, Heineken, ING Group, Ahold, Delta Lloyd Group and Philips. After finance, fashion and flowers are key sectors. Of all Amsterdam's exports, tulips are probably the most famous. In terms of exports, fresh flowers are a large market and Heineken is the largest export brewery in the world, with sales to 150 countries.

Over the last few years, the city has also emerged as a strong base in advanced technological industries, computing, telecommunications and biotechnology while trade show industry benefiting the economy as ever. Amsterdam RAI:

The Amsterdam Stock Exchange:

The former stock exchange of the city, Amsterdam Stock Exchange got merged in September’ 2000 with the Brussels Stock Exchange and Paris Stock Exchange to form Euronext, and is now known as Euronext Amsterdam. Euronext is now a pan-European stock exchange based in Paris with subsidiaries in Belgium, France, Netherlands, Portugal and UK.

The Euronext broadly manages two indices, the Euronext 100 Index, which is the blue chip index, while 150 Index is a market capitalization index.

Major Commercial Areas
Zonolite Road:
A fascinating little business district, Zonolite Road is largely a semi-industrial warehouse district located adjacent to the railroad tracks across Sage Hill Shopping Center. Continuing further down the street, you'll discover Float-away Buildings, which are converted warehouses that have been transformed into a truly unique commercial space. In addition to a variety of light industrial businesses, the area is also home to a variety of professional offices, particularly for creative professionals including film production companies, graphic studios and more.

Highland at Amsterdam:
Located at Amsterdam Avenue along North Highland, the Highland at Amsterdam is one in a series of small neighborhood business districts. The district features several restaurants, a post office, ATMs and service & retail businesses.
