Business Overview
The city of Auckland is Economic Capital of New Zealand. The largest
commercial and industrial areas in and around Auckland are in the southeast
of Auckland City as well as in the western parts of Manukau City, mostly in
the areas bordering the Manukau Harbour and the Tamaki River estuary. The
city has seen rapid economic growth in the past few years. Auckland houses
headquarters of numerous international corporations, banks and other
offices. The city has a very well developed Tourism industry and it attracts
millions of visitors throughout the year. Service sector is also a major
contributor to Auckland's economy.
Major Business Centers
The ASB Showgrounds:
The ASB Showgrounds is located near the Aucklands Central Business
District. The venue is is situated in the center of the magnificent Cornwall
Park. The ASB Showgrounds is New Zealand's premier exhibition centre. The
venue hosts more than 150 events, accommodating more than one million
visitors each year. The ASB Showgrounds is Auckland's most flexible,
versatile, multi-purpose venue with the ability and capacity to host events
from exhibitions, trade shows, private and corporate functions, conventions.
The venue has six exhibition pavilions which cover an approximate area of
15,000 square meters , to host exhibition, function and event space.
The venue also houses the Logan Campbell Centre which hosts events like
rock concerts, themed functions, weddings to corporate dinners. The venue
also has smaller Seminar and Function Rooms.
Skycity Convention Centre:
Skycity Auckland Convention Centre is the newest and most technically
advanced convention centre in New Zealand. The convention center is equipped
with world class facilities which can make any event a success. The venue
has a large exhibition space and provides an inhouse catering and
accomodation services. The Convention center is equipped with high tech
audio and visual equipment. The Centre houses Auckland's largest commercial
car park, with 1,960 car parks on six levels. Apart from this the center
also has a range of support facilities.
Major CommercialCenters
Queen Street:
Queen Street is the major commercial area of Auckland. The street houses
several big buildings that are owned by various international and national
companies. The Auckland Ferry Building, Chief Post Office, Dilworth
Building, Bank of New Zealand Building and Auckland Savings Bank Building
are few of the important buildings of the area. Most of these buildings were
constructed in the nineteenth century. The street is named after Queen
Victoria and it was established in 1840. Most of the buildings are located
around Queen Elizabeth II Square area of the street.
Auckland CBD:
The CBD of Auckland has been the backbone of New Zealand's business and
economic development for nearly two centuries. The area is a very densely
populated region having several high-rise buildings mainly used for
commercial and retail uses. The CBD also has various important arts, culture
and higher education institutions and venues in the country. The Auckland
CBD has skyscraper-sized buildings, such as the Vero Centre or the
Metropolis, with the Sky Tower rising above it. The CBD houses offices of
Ports of Auckland, financial companies and ICT companies. The CBD is the
major business hub of Auckland.
