ABOUT AAMC, Group on Educational Affairs

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and its associated members serve and lead the academic medicine community to improve the health of all. The AAMC represents all 134 accredited U.S. and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools. Through these institutions and organizations, the AAMC represents 125,000 faculty members, 75,000 medical students, and 106,000 resident physicians. Individual staff at U.S. and Canadian medical schools with an interest in medical education may join the Group on Educational Affairs (GEA). Membership in all other groups requires appointment by the medical school dean, teaching hospital executive, or academic society president. The purpose of GEA is to promote excellence in the education of physicians throughout their professional lives and, thereby, to contribute to improving the health of the public.
