ABOUT AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center

AVRDC, The World Vegetable Center was founded in 1971 in Taiwan by a series of countries and organizations. It is an international, nongovernmental and not for profit organization headed by Dr. J.D.H. Keatinge, Director General, AVRDC. The work AVRDC is built around four global themes of germplasm, breeding, production and consumption. The needs of the resource poor farmers and the constant study of agricultural equipments like seeds, vegetable technology and others in under developed and developing countries are the main issues of concern of AVRDC. AVRDC not only works in the field of plant technology but also organizes many conferences to educate people about the newly available means in agriculture. The International Vegetable Training Course and the High Value Vegetables in Southeast Asia are some of the major workshops and conferences to be organized by AVRDC.
