Department of Physics of Brown University collaborates across disciplines working with biologists, chemists, engineers, geologists, and mathematicians. Brown University is a private, Ivy League university located in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Brown is the seventh oldest institution of higher education in the United States. Several of the buildings on the Brown campus from its founding 18th century period through the 20th century offer fine representation of the Georgian style of American colonial era architecture. Brown is an independent, coeducational Ivy League institution comprising undergraduate and graduate programs, plus the Alpert Medical School and the School of Engineering. Brown's international programs are organized through the Watson Institute for International Studies. Brown's vibrant, diverse community consists of 6,000 undergraduates, 2,000 graduate students.
