DESC, or the Downtown Emergency Service Center is a not for profit association which was established in the year 1979 to provide a permanent and long lasting solution to the problem of homelessness in the United States. Supporting people with mental health disorders is the chief aim of this organization which is chaired by the present Deputy Chief of the Seattle Police Department, Mr. Clark Kimerer. DESC believes that a safe home is the first step in aiding psychiatric patients with a tendency towards chronic homelessness. The organization has its headquarters in Seattle, the state of Washington. It has hosted a number of events in the past, namely, the Summer Chat Series, Gimme Shelter and To the Rescue Superhero Gala. A new edition of Gimme Shelter would be held very soon by this prestigious organizer.
