The University of Durham, commonly known as Durham University is a university in Durham, England. The University is one of the highest ranked universities in UK. Durham is a collegiate university, with its main functions divided between the academic departments of the University and 16 colleges. Durham University offers its students a challenging and rewarding education through its ethos of research-led teaching combined with opportunities for personal development. It is committed to education, instilling in our students the ability to learn and think, together with an emphasis on leadership, respect for others and social and environmental responsibility. The departments perform research and provide lectures to students, while the colleges are responsible for the domestic arrangements and welfare of undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers and some University staff.
