ABOUT English Academy of Southern Africa

English Academy of Southern Africa is the home of English studies in Southern Africa. The Academy is governed by an elected Council, which appoints a President and an Executive Committee. The English Academy of Southern Africa was founded in 1961. It is an association dedicated to promoting the effective use of English as a dynamic language in Southern Africa. The Academy cooperates with business, research and educational institutions to improve the use of English in the workplace and in daily life. The English Academy interests itself in English in education, promotes research and debate, organizes lectures, conferences and seasonal schools, makes representations about language matters, rewards excellence and fosters the creative, critical and scholarly talents of users (and would-be users) of English in Southern Africa.
