The European Science Foundation (ESF) was established in Strasbourg in 1974 and was a significant milestone achievement in the field of research in Europe. The ESF initiated its activities with a small membership of 42 academies and research councils in 15 countries and today its count has reached 72 member Organisations (MOs), including research funding organisations, research performing organisations, academies and learned societies, across 30 countries all around the globe. It is an independent, non-governmental organisation which dedicatedly works towards pan-European scientific networking and collaboration. The ESF organizes many events of different types and levels within Europe as well as in other countries. Many of the events organized by the ESF are Exploratory Workshops, EUROCORES (European Collaborative Research scheme), Research Networking Programmes and ESF Research Conferences.
