ABOUT Gwangju Metropolitan City

Gwangju, a city of the arts and liberal thoughts with its harmony among culture, nature, and industry, has been marching towards its vision of being a global city. Gwangju is an important city of the Honam region which has started attracting global attention for its capabilities of contributing to the development of the Southwestern region. Not only is the city advancing towards its trade development activities but is also making important contributions to the environment by hosting activities like UN City Environment Convention. The city council is the governing body of Gwangju and with the help of its citizens has made valuable contributions towards strengthening the economy of the region. Fairs like the international Photonics Expo, International Environment Expo, the World Hydrogen Energy Convention and the Summer Universiade are few exhibitions of International repute that the city has plans of hosting.
