Having its origin in the year 1951, IEEE Information Theory Society, shortly known as ITSOC, was renamed in the year 1964 as it is known today. This organization is an important technical entity of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, or the IEEE. Located in the US, the ITSOC is presently running under the leadership of its President, Mr. Giuseppe Caire. Centered on the fundamentals of the communication process, this premier body deals with the theory, process, transmission, storage, and usage of information pertaining to information and communication. The SmartGridComm is one of the hugely successful conferences that ITSOC has organized in the past while conferences such as the International Zurich Seminar on Communications, the annual Allerton Conference on Communications, Control, and Computing and Data Compression Conference are scheduled to take place.
