Also known by its shortened form, IEEE RAS, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society is a specialized society of the IEEE, or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. This body was founded in the year 1984 and since then it has been on the forefront of the developments occurring in the field of theoretical as well implemented aspects of robotics and automation. Based in the US, the seat of the current President of this organization is being occupied by Mr. Kazuhiro Kosuge. Deemed as the largest global association for the purpose of technological developments, IEEE RAS also organizes around 10 conferences and sponsors 20 conferences approximately. IEEE International Conference on Automation and Logistics and IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering are two important conferences to be organized by this society.
