The Fundamental Computer Science Laboratory in Marseille (LIF) is a joint research unit (UMR 6166) CNRS, University of Provence and the University of the Mediterranean. CNRS, the LIF is attached to the Institute of Computer Science and their interactions (INS2I) as principal and the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (INSHS), a secondary basis. LIF has 78 permanent members, and thirty non-permanent members, spread over two main sites remote: the campus of Luminy and Technopole Chateau-Gombert. The LIF is divided into five teams whose themes cover a significant part of modern computing: Databases and Machine Learning; Combinatorics and Operations Research; Modeling and Verification; Complex systems, flooring and PLCs; Automatic processing of written and spoken language.
