ABOUT Popular Culture Association /American Culture Association

Popular Culture Association or American Culture Association is an organization that was founded by Professors Ray Browne and Russell Nye to bring back a holistic approach to American cultural studies. With its first meeting in Michigan in 1971, the association formally launched its services. Gary Burns, president of the association continually strives to broaden the scope of activities of the association to meet its aim of promoting the study of popular culture throughout the world through the establishment and promotion of conferences, publications, and discussion. The thoughts and activities of the organization are published in the Journal of Popular Culture and Journal of American Culture which are the in house publications of the association. The International Popular Culture Association conference is a noteworthy effort of the association.
