ABOUT Pennsylvania Association For Gifted Education

Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education or “PAGE” is an association which teaches the parents and teachers more about gifted students and gifted education. The Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education originated from the Pennsylvania Association for the Study and Education of the mentally gifted which popped up from the Conference on Gifted Children and Youth held in May 1951 at Pennsylvania State College. This conference was organized by Margaret A. Neuber, the chairperson of the Special Education Department at Penn State and by Dr. Hedwig O. Pregler, Principal of Colfax School in Pittsburgh. Earlier this association was known as “The Pennsylvania Association for the Study and Education of the Mentally Gifted”. Later, on 24 September 1977 it was renamed as “Pennsylvania Association for Gifted Education”. Its mission is to meet the varied needs of the gifted children by working together with parents, teachers, administrators, policy makers and the community.
