ABOUT SHORTER COMMUNITY AME CHURCH

The Reverend Dr. Timothy E. Tyler is the Pastor of Shorter Community African Methodist Episcopal Church in Denver, Colorado. Born on January 30, 1964 in Jackson, Mississippi and raised in Los Angeles, California, he is the son of Bishop Carolyn E. Tyler Guidry, Presiding Prelate of the 8th Episcopal District; AME Church, and the late Mr. Cary Bernard Tyler. Reverend Tyler earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio; a Master of Divinity degree from Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta Georgia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications/Journalism from Morris Brown College, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Tyler is a former adjunct professor of Homiletics at the Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, California, and Eden Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.
