Society for Public Health Education or SOPHE was established in the year 1950 by the Interim Commission and 17 other health educators. Clair E. Turner was the president of this association when it was established. In the first meeting of this association the Board of Trustees approved the Constitution and the By Laws that limited the membership of the association. A qualification criteria were also set up which stated that a person should have a graduate degree from a school accredited by this association and the person should also have two years of work experience. SOPHE conducts two education conferences annually and these conferences attract around 400 to 500 health professionals. The vision of SOPHE is to create a healthy world by giving health education to the people.
