The Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators has been making a strong statement in the field of story book writing and illustrating since the time of its formation in 1971 when it was conceptualized by a group of childrens book writers based in Los Angeles. With its head office in Los Angeles, California and led by its President, Mr. Stephen Mooser, this professional organization aims to encourage and support the writers and illustrators operating in the area of literature, magazines, film, television and multimedia that caters specifically to children and youngsters. Popularized by its acronym, SCBWI, this nonprofit body is renowned for endorsing its members by releasing its bi monthly magazine called SCBWI Bulletin and also by organizing a large number of regional conferences and events. The SCBWI National Conferences as well as its international conferences are the major events in their category.
