ABOUT Southeast Conference Of The Association For Asian Studies

The Southeast Conference of the Association for Asian Studies is a very dedicated non-political and non-profit organization whose motive is to promote the study of Asia in the southeastern parts of United States. Since 1962 this organization has an annual three day conference in which the primary features were the scholarly panels, teacher workshops and book exhibits. University of North Carolina will sponsor the 2013 meet of SEC/AAS, which will be held in Wilmington, North Carolina, during the weekend of January 11-13, 2013. The Southeast Conference was held in January 1962 at Duke University, which was sponsored by Duke University itself and by the Duke Endowment; and around 60 people largely from colleges and universities from around the region had attended the conference. Under the editorship of Howard Federspiel for almost two decades this conference has published “Annals”.
