The ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart opened its doors for business almost four years ago. To date, an impressive range of events has been held in the rooms and halls which cover an area of around 9,500 square metres. These events extend from the CDU Federal Party Convention, the German Savings Bank Conference, the Forum of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in Baden - Wurttemberg, medical congresses and company events through to the television programme "Wetten, dass.?", to name but a few. "The ICS has become well-established on the market", enthuses Team Leader Meike Poweleit, who is responsible along with her staff for implementing the guest events in the ICS. "The number of events is also increasing every year."
Ultimately, market success is also always due to the people behind the company. In the case of the ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart, this is attributable to a small but extremely versatile team whose members work for customers with great dedication and extensive know-how. The constellation of the team is probably unique in the German trade fair industry while the professional backgrounds of the employees could hardly be more diverse.
The spearhead is Team Leader Meike Poweleit. The trained banker has been working for Messe Stuttgart for ten years and has been responsible during this period for a wide range of tasks, for example for the Galvanica, Vision and Wellviva trade fairs. She has held the post of Head of the ICS Team in the Guest Event Department since 2008. Outside the office, the mother of a small daughter enjoys horse riding and driving her Vespa.
The Team has an all-round talent in Sonja Scholl. After training as a hotel specialist, the 29-year-old took a degree in tourism business management with hospitality and international management as the main subjects. She also spent a semester abroad at Malaga University. Sonja Scholl initially joined the ICS Team as a project assistant. The native of Heidelberg, who loves city breaks and international cuisine, has held the position of project manager since the beginning of 2010.
Dominik Schadewaldt, a qualified media designer, first worked for SWR as a camera assistant and sound engineer. During his subsequent degree in business administration (main subject: event management), he spent six months in Shanghai where he not only completed his practical semester, but also discovered his love of Asia. Dominik Schadewaldt has been working as a project assistant in the ICS Team of Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH since 2010.
The second man in the group is Florian Munzmay who trained as a management assistant in event management at Messe Stuttgart. This was followed by a position as project assistant in the Industrial Solutions Business Division and, since 2010, a sandwich course as a business economist at Wurttemberg Administration and Business Academy. The keen snowboarder and tennis player only recently joined the ICS Team as the successor to Corina Lang who had taken up a new challenge inside the company.
Sarah Panten is the "baby of the family" and also a newcomer to Meike Poweleit's Team. The qualified business and administrative specialist with a penchant for journalism has been supporting her colleagues since April 2011 as a project assistant. Sarah Panten gathered trade fair experience beforehand during her foreign internship in Toronto with the Canadian representative of Messe Stuttgart. In her private life, the 24-year-old enjoys culture in all its variety, but especially theatre and musicals. She also writes for a local daily newspaper as a freelance editor.
The ICS Team is augmented by its own Marketing and Sales Team which is primarily responsible for the acquisition of events and the establishment of the ICS International Congress Center Stuttgart on the market. Karina Grutzner has been supporting the Marketing & Sales Team for five years now. The business studies graduate worked previously in the event and trade fair industry, for example in Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Madrid. The 30-year-old devotes her free time to her not entirely commonplace hobbies, which include loud rock music and a collection of tins.
Karolin Simon is the second force in the ICS Marketing & Sales Team where she has been responsible since summer 2010 as the contact person for associations and organisations. The business studies graduate is familiar with the MICE industry: before joining Messe Stuttgart, she coordinated a wide range of events as a project manager at a cultural and congress center. In her private life Karolin Simon likes to explore foreign countries - for example she lived in New Zealand for one year.
According to Stefan Lohnert, Director of the Guest Event Division, the versatility of the ICS Team is a clear advantage in day-to-day business: "We are extremely flexible and react individually to the requirements of the market and our customers. The different backgrounds of our employees and their great experience, including that gained in other industries, benefit us in this respect."
