The city of St. Petersburg is a business and commercial center of Russia. The city is flocked with visitors from all over the world. The city also is the most northern city having a population more than One million. The city is rightly called the 'Northern capital of Russia'. The city has a very well developed transport system. The city is accessible from all parts of the world. The public transit system is also very well developed in the city.

Saint Petersburg Airports:
St. Petersburg has two airports:
Pulkovo I Domestic Airport is located 18 km from the downtown. The airport serves most of the domestic destinations. The airport is easily accessible from all major parts of the city through Taxis.

Pulkovo II International Airport is the only international airport in the city of St. Petersburg. The airport has flights from major cities of Europe and North America. Getting to the airport is easy. There are several buses and taxis [providing services to the airport.

Railways:
The major railway stations in the city are:

  • Vitebskii Station
  • Baltiskii Station kaya
  • Ladozhskii Station
  • Finliandskii Station


These stations have regular trains to several European and Russian destinations.

Local Transportation of Saint Petersburg:
Taxis: Route taxi (marshrutka) usually turns out to be the fastest way for getting around in the city of St. Petersburg. The route taxis are white or yellow in color and seat about 14-20 people at one time. The Marshrutka have no well defined stops. Each taxi has a particular route number.

Bus: There are both public and private buses running throughout the city, which offer an uncomfortable but cheap ride. The buses or trolley buses are often crowded.

Trams: The trams although are a cheap way of traveling in the city but they stop at very few stops.

Metro: Saint Petersburg's metro is the largest underground railway system in Russia after Moscow. It is the cheapest away to get around the city. Each day millions of travelers use metro for getting around in the city.

Saint Petersburg is the commercial hub, financial center and the second largest city in Russia. The city is visited by millions of travelers each year for business as well as recreational purposes.
