Indian Sports - The next big
thing!
THE country's first event - Sports, Fitness and Active Leisure (SFAL) Expo 2007 combining the sports goods and equipment industry with the converging fitness and health and wellness industries was held at Pragati Maidan from 18 20 August 2007. Organised by Exhibitions India Pvt. Ltd. (EIPL), SFAL 2007 focused on sports goods, fitness equipment and infrastructure, active leisure, and a pivotal allied industry health and wellness. 101 corporates and associations participated at the event. Occupying a net exhibit space 1,790 sqm., the inaugural SFAL Expo 2007 was the meeting ground for brands, technologists and distributors of sporting goods, fitness equipments, infrastructure, and health and wellness items from across India and from 14 other countries. SFAL Expo 2007 was supported by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, as well as other associations. Shri Tejendra Khanna, Hon. Lt. Governor of Delhi, inaugurated the event on 18 August at Hall 7 in Pragati Maidan. Shri. K.C. Anand, Vice Chairman, Sports Goods Export Promotion Council (SGEPC), and Shri. Raghunath Rana, Chairman, Sports Goods Manufacturers & Exporters Association (SGMEA) were a part of the opening ceremony. Shri S.K. Arora, Secretary, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Kapil Dev, the legendary Indian all rounder of the 1980s, visited the fair on Day 2; Mr. Chetan Chauhan, the stalwart opening batsman of the early 1980s, also was one of the notable dignitaries.
