Transportation & Reach
While the well-equipped airport serves the city, the metro is a great relief to the land commuters in Valencia. The trains, buses & taxis are the other forms of public transportation in the city.
As a port city, Valencia also uses ship or boat for traveling.
Valencia Airports: - Valencia International Airport (VLC): The airport is located 8km (5 miles) west of the city center.
GB Airways fly daily from London Gatwick, Easyjet from Gatwick & Stansted and Ryanair fly from Stansted along with many other airlines.
Valencia Railway Transportation:
- The main rail operator of Spain is RENFE, which connects inter-city & international trains to a number of cities in Spain and the rest of Europe. While local trains link the city to towns & villages within the province.
- The main train station is Valencia North, served by Alaris & EuroMed services plus other regular connections with major Spanish cities.
- Other cross borders line Eurostar runs from UK to Paris, TGV Atlantique to Barcelona & AVE to Valencia. An alternative route is the overnight Paris-Madrid Trenhotel & Alaris to Valencia.
Valencia Water Transportation:
There are regular ferry services to Spanish ports as Valencia is one of the major and busy ports of the country, it serves many routes besides trips to & from Balearic Islands.
Most ferries from the Balearics dock stops close enough to Plaza de Ayuntamiento that one can take a short bus trip to the city center.
Local Transportation of Valencia: The quite extensive public transportation network is provided by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) and includes:
- Bus: EMT runs the bus services in the city. The Valencia region is full of bus services coming from almost every big city.
The main bus station is located by the river about 15 minutes walk from the center.
- Metro: The conventional & largely underground system runs largely within the city though some trains continuing out to far-flung suburban destinations on lines that more closely resemble commuter train lines.
An on-street light rail system north of Turia riverbed is Line 4 of the metro.
- Taxi: Radio Taxi Manises, Radio Taxi Valencia & Teletaxi are the main taxi service providers in the city.
Hotels & Accommodation
The city is very well equipped in every range of accommodation. Many of the best hotels are luxurious but youre on a budget, the best course to adopt is to head for one of the no-frills, hotels & hostels around town.
The area near train station accumulates much of Valencias cheapest accommodations.
