Business Overview
Geneva's economy is largely dependent on the flourishing banking and financial sectors. The city has a very well developed commodity market and an ever growing service industry. Geneva has the headquarters of several international corporations like JT International (JTI), Mediterranean Shipping Company and Serono. Some IT companies like Sun Microsystems also have their European headquarters in the city. The other major industry thriving in the city of Geneva has been watchmaking.

The renowned brands like Baume et Mercier, Chopard, Franck Muller, Patek Philippe, Rolex, Raymond Weil and Omega all belong to the city. The city also has a very well developed event industry. Geneva hosts a variety of events including trade shows, trade fairs, exhibitions, expos and conventions. The Geneva Motor Show is one of the most important international auto-shows. The show is held at Palexpo, a giant convention center located next to the International Airport.

Geneva Palexpo:
A public-law, non-profit foundation for the promotion and organization of exhibitions and congresses - The Geneva Palexpo is a premier event venue in Geneva. The venue is managed and operated by ORGEXPO. ORGEXPO is a non profit organization that promotes exhibitions in the city of Geneva.

The Palexpo was inaugurated in December 1981 and at that time it occupied an area of 58000 sq m. Today the center covers 111000 sq m of area and is the most popular event venue in the country. The Palexpo has a large parking space to accommodate almost 3000 cars. It also has inbuilt restaurants and bars. The center is equipped with multipurpose conference rooms with world class facilities.

This world class event facility is directly served by the International airport, motorway and a railway station, which are located adjacent to the center. Palexpo hosts several popular exhibitions, trade shows, trade fairs and conventions throughout the year. The most famous shows organized at the venue are - the Geneva Motor Show and the World telecom show.
