Event Profile:
SIAL China, China's largest and leading international exhibition for the food and beverage trade, was created in 2000 by Exposium as spin off on the Asian continent for the SIAL brand. Within a few years the show became Asia's Food Marketplace so as to better serve the local market. With 1,097 exhibitors in total, the one-thousand mark has been passed in 2007 for the first time, representing a +11% increase compared to the previous edition.
Highlights:
The conference program was an additional attraction that saw buyers and sellers attending in great numbers, keen to learn from leading authorities such as consulting companies, media specialists, importers, retailers. Some of the highly appreciated events at SIAL China were: the 8th China Wine & Spirits Competition, the 3rd edition of OlivAsia, the Asian continents oldest olive oil competition, the Trends & Innovations Area and Conference, the Wine & Spirits Tasting rooms.
Visitor's Profile:
SIAL China has welcomed 22 253 visitors from 87 countries with 15% international visitors (3338 persons) and an 8%-increase compared to last year. Among the Chinese visitors, 61% came from Shanghai. Most of the visitors came from the retail and wholesale business but numerous trade agents, hotel and restaurant managers and other F&B professionals attended SIAL China, too.
