Transportation & Reach
Public transport in Istanbul comprises an extensive bus network, various rail systems, funiculars, and maritime services. Istanbul is a very old city despite of this the city has managed to modernize its transportation system. The city has a very well developed transport system. Along with this there are two major airports which serve the city. Getting in the city is very convenient.

Airport:
Istanbul has two international airports:
Ataturk International Airport located in the Yesilkoy district is the largest of the two airports. This airport is located at a distance of about 24 kilometres west from the city center.

Sabiha Gokcen International Airport located in the Kurtkoy district. The airport is located at a distance of approximately 20 Kilometres from the center of city.

Local Transportation of Istanbul:
Bus: There are both public and private buses running throughout the city. The buses are often crowded and its uncomfortable traveling through the buses.

Metro: Metros are an efficient way too move around the city. The metros connect all the major shopping and business areas in the city and are generally very clean and efficient.

Taxis: The most popular and efficient way to get around Istanbul is by taxi. They are very cheap, run on meters and easy to find. They can also take you-door-to door.

Light rails: The light railway system is a clean and efficient service and was recently opened in the year 2002.

Ferries: The city is practically surrounded by the Sea of Marmara, the Golden Horn, the Bosphorus and the Black Sea. The city thus is required to have a good ferry system. Ferries and sea buses connect Istanbul to neighboring islands.

Trams: The trams although are a cheap way of traveling in the city but they stop at very few stops. There are two tram lines in the city.

Istanbul although is not the capital of Turkey but still is one of the busiest city of Turkey. The city is visited by both the business travelers and the tourists from all over the world. The city has very well developed hotel and accommodation services. Istanbul is also one of the world's major conference destinations. The city has a range of hotels to suit any pocket. One can find a deluxe hotel with ease in any corner of the city. There are plenty of budget hotels in various other parts of Istanbul as well.
