History & Evolution
The city Atlanta was founded in 1837 . The city was a terminus of the Western & Atlantic railroad line. The city was first named Marthasville and soon changed to Atlanta. The city has been serving as a transportation hub of USA for a long time.

The city was incorporated as Atlanta on December 29, 1847. Atlanta served as an important railroad and military supply hub during the American civil war. The city has also witnessed events like - Battle of Peachtree Creek, the Battle of Atlanta, and the Battle of Ezra Church. Union General William T. Sherman destroyed Atlanta in order to prepare for his march south of 1864. The city went through a rapid recovery phase between 1867 – 1888. Atlanta also hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics. The phase from 1990 to 1996 saw the rapid growth of construction projects, city's parks, sports facilities, and transportation facilities.

The city of Atlanta has witnessed several civil rights movement in her eventful history. The leaders who fought for the civil rights and peace were the major contributers to the rapid modernization of the city. The city has registered a rapid industrial growth in last few decades.

The Georgia Aquarium is one of the most recently established attractions in Atlanta. The Georgia Aquarium is the world’s largest aquarium. The Aquarium stores more than 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water holding more than 100,000 animals from 500 species from around the world. The aquarium is very crowded at the weekends and holidays. Therefore it is suggested to buy the tickets beforehand. Tickets are also sold electronically. The aquarium offers amazing exhibits. The aquarium has so much to offer that people love to visit the place again and again. No food items from outside are allowed inside the premises of Aquarium. The aquarium is also a tobacco free zone.
