Chicago is the largest city by population in the American Midwest. The city is a major financial, industrial and cultural hub in the region. Chicago is also a major transportation center in the United States. The city has a very well developed transport system. The public transit in Chicago is cheap , efficient and safe.

Chicago Airports:
The city of Chicago is served by two major airports:
O'Hare International Airport has numerous flights to several national and international destinations. It is also one of the biggest airports in the world. Several blue line and shuttle buses connect airport to various parts of the city. The airport is located ten miles northwest of downtown.

Midway International Airport is located southwest of downtown Chicago. The major airlines serving the airport are Southwest Airlines and AirTran. Midways only serves domestic or discounted airlines. The airport has several hotels within its reach.

Chicago Railway Transportation:
Chicago is one of the most convenient U.S. cities to visit by train. The city is located at most of the Amtrak national routes. Union Station is the main station of Chicago. The station is accessible by almost all the CTA buses.

Local Transportation of Chicago:
Buses and Trains: The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) ownes and operates trains and buses in the city of Chicago. Transit cards are used to pay the fairs. CTA trains are divided into the Red, Green, Brown, Blue, Purple, Yellow, Orange and Pink Lines. The local trains are commonly known as 'L' trains.Buses connect almost every part of the city.

Metra commuter trains: Metra operates commuter trains for the suburbs. His includes Kenosha, Wisconsin and the South Shore. Metra trains are fast, clean but can be crowded during peak hours. Metra's Electric Line also serves the convention center (McCormick Place), Hyde Park (Museum of Science and Industry, University of Chicago), and the Far Southeast Side's Pullman Historic District and Rainbow Beach.

Other: Trolleys are also a common mode of transport in the city. The trolleys do not have well defined stops. Apart from this, Pace operates buses in the suburban areas. It is very similar to Metra.

Chicago the 'second city of America' , is one of the most visited city of United States. The city is a financial and business hub of middle west America. The city hosts the largest number of conventions in USA. The cultural heritage of the city also attracts travelers from all over the world. Chicago is flocked with visitors throughout the year.
